Couples seek relationship counselling for lots of different reasons. Sometimes without realising we can become stuck or stagnant within a relationship.  Busy with day to day life.  Overwhelmed by the effects of having children, illness, bereavement or money worries for example.

Maybe it feels like the spark has gone.  The once deep connection between you has drifted.  Perhaps you don’t recognise the person you are waking up next to anymore.

It could be that communication is difficult, resulting in rows, arguments or tension.  Perhaps you’ve stopped talking altogether, finding it easier to just avoid each other.  Or maybe what you do talk about it just the day to day stuff and you’re bored with it.

It may be that trust between you has disappeared after a betrayal of some kind, which might include an emotional or sexual affair.

It might feel like you are at a crossroads, do we stay together and get things back on track or do we split up.  This can be a scary, sad and confusing place to be.

Finding clarity and focus together

So much to think about and it feels foggy.   Maybe you feel that you don’t know where or who to turn to as everyone has their own opinion and that’s adding to the confusion.

It can be all consuming, affecting your ability to think straight at work, at home and within the other relationships in your life.

I work with opposite or same sex couples.  Whether you are married, in a civil partnership, long or short-term relationship, living together or apart.  Whether you identify as straight or LGBT, I am here for you.

I will help you to identify clearly the challenges or problems you are facing in your relationship.  Enable you to consider the best way for you to move forward and what steps you want to take to make this happen.

Each couple is unique

Every relationship is different and the challenges you face are unique.  Short term relationship counselling (around 8 sessions) is most common.  Some couples will embark on longer term therapy, whilst others may only need a few sessions to help them through a particularly bad patch or a specific issue.  We will discuss your needs and expectations at our first session together.

You can come for relationship counselling either together or just one of you on your own.

Often couples will seek relationship counselling when things have got really bad and perhaps one person is thinking of leaving.  It doesn’t have to be.

I am here for you at any point, no matter how old your relationship is or what issues you are experiencing – no matter how big or small they may seem.
