Relationship Counselling online and in Chorley, Lancashire

Helping couples build their confidence, communicate better and build trust in each other.

When things aren’t right in a relationship, it can be difficult to communicate and have the confidence or spark that you once did.  Most people who start Relationship and Couples Therapy feel lost in their relationship on some level, unsure of how to find their way. Perhaps you can relate. Maybe you feel like you want to escape your life or you’re noticing that you complain a lot about feeling stressed, tired, snappy and unfulfilled.

Stuck in negativity and feeling worried all the time, you may feel like life is spent constantly feeling “on edge”.

Do You Feel Bored, Worried, Angry?

Do any of the following resonate with you?

  • You fight all the time with your partner.
  • You’ve noticed that the spark in your relationship is gone.
  • You feel shut out, unheard or unseen within your relationship.
  • You feel fear stricken, even in the “comfort” of your own home.
  • You feel like you’re living at a frenzied pace leaving you frazzled and stressed.

If these sound true for you, I want you to know that you might feel embarrassed to open up about what you’re really going through, even to family and friends. Therapy provides a non-judgemental space for you to talk freely about what’s bothering you. You don’t have to keep putting yourself last, caring for everyone else before you take care of yourself.

Each couple is unique

My name’s Sarah and I am a relationship and couples therapist who is here to help.

I understand that every relationship is different and the challenges you face are unique. I work with opposite or same sex couples. Whether you are married, in a civil partnership, long or short-term relationship, living together or apart. Whether you identify as straight or LGBT, I am here for you.

I offer short and longer term relationship counselling. Short term therapy of around 8 sessions is the most common but some couples choose to see me for a longer period of time. Others may only need a few sessions to help them through a particularly bad patch or a specific issue. We will discuss your needs and expectations at our first session together.

Sessions last for 90 minutes and initially begin with a joint session, followed by two individual sessions (which last for 60 minutes) where we can explore the relationship from your perspective, your individual motivations and hopes for coming to therapy. We might also explore your previous experiences that may influence how you are within the relationship.

You can come for relationship counselling either together or just one of you on your own.

I am here for you at any point, no matter how old your relationship is or what issues you are experiencing – no matter how big or small they may seem.

My invitation to you.

I invite you to arrange an introductory call (either by phone or by zoom).   When you get in touch, either my assistant or I will be in touch to arrange a time for us to meet.

Typically an introductory call lasts around 20 minutes, I will ask you about what has brought you to search for a therapist, what’s been happening for you recently and for a little background.  It’s really an opportunity for us to get to know each other, for you can ask any questions you might have and for us to see if the way that I work is a good fit for you.

There is no obligation start therapy with me but if we do both feel that we would work well together and our diaries match up, we can arrange our first session together.
